My name is Maxwell Morgan. I am a 17 year old high school student from South Lake Tahoe, California. I became interested in the Sweden's Syrian refugee crisis because my mother and her family were also refugees to Sweden at one time.  In 1968 during the Cold War, my mother's family fled to Sweden after Soviet troops invaded Czechslovakia and imposed strict authoritarian controls. Leaving most of their posessions behind, they arrived in Sweden where they spent their first three months learning the Swedish language before being allowed to work. My mother grew up in Sweden and obtained a degree in engineering before traveling to Lake Tahoe, California where she met my father. My two sisters and I were born and raised in South Lake Tahoe. We often spend our summers in Sweden visiting family.
